Bit of a Blur

It's July already?! Woooah, we're halfway there. They seem to get quicker every year, don't they? Or is it just me? Things get blurrier at this time of year. We've had EOFY and now it's time to start anew! Kind of like a midwinter stock-take and assessment, I guess. Well, where does that leave me, you might ask? I've got a pretty busy July in store, and you can scroll down to check out my gigging dates, if you like.

I have some other non-gig-related news that I'm excited to share with you all. As some of you may know, I recently completed a Diploma of Counselling, and while I'm not counselling yet, I have been putting my new skills to good use. I started training in March this year to be a volunteer for Lifeline, and to step into the role of digital crisis supporter. This just means that rather than answering phone calls from people in distress, I interact with help seekers via SMS and web-chat. I finished my placement in June and just completed two solo shifts in the last week. I'm still working through my internship, which will take a few more months, but I've been really enjoying the experience. I've always wanted to do something this, and with the support of my wife and family, I feel like I'm making a positive difference in people's lives when they are at their lowest. I'm not sure where this journey is going to take me, but I'm very happy walking the path.

But I digress! I will certainly keep on a-strummin' and a-singin'! I even have a couple of new venues to look forward to, plus a monthly Thursday night stint at Sir Henry's in Northbridge!
