I Like WA in June...

...how about yoooouuu?? He he he...yes, I am back in Perth once more after an epic family holiday in the apple isle. So, I'm ready to pick up a guitar and get out to some gigs. My fingers have not touched a string in nearly three weeks! Looking forward to blowing the cobwebs off, me.

My family and I spent two weeks driving around Tasmania, and we just had the best time! There are too many highlights to mention, but we all really enjoyed taking in the wonderful wildlife of the Tasmanian Devil Unzoo, Devils@Cradle and the Platypus House. We even saw wombats, platypus, wallabies, penguins, pademelons, possums and owls out in the wild! From a cruise on the Gordon River, to touring Port Arthur, to celebrating Rhones' 50th in St Helens, to becoming part of the cast of a play in Strahan, to finding a playground in Ulverstone we had stopped at on our previous jaunt there in 2014...we just had an absolute ball.

If you've never been, do yourself a solid, and change that. Almost everyone we spoke to about our trip warned us about the cold, and told us to bring thermals, but we didn't need to (we don't own any, in any event). While we did experience a chilly three degrees at the summit of Mt Wellington, that was only for about five minutes. And we all had our MND Big Freeze beanies on too (RIP Neale). Having spent time in the south of our own state, we're not afraid of cold weather. Our boy managed to get around wearing just shorts and a t-shirt for most of our time there! Anyway, back to the giggin' side of things! It all kicks off for me this Friday, with my first gig for June, and winter at that, being a WGJS gig at the Byford & Districts Country Club. It will be extra special for me, because our son Lachlan will be sitting on the drum stool, and we'll have some family in attendance for some celebratory events as well! The Wesleys will return to our regular schedule of appearing at the BDCC on the first Friday and the third Sunday of every month for the rest of the year. Bully! It's going to get cool now, so if you come to see us in the next few, dress warm! We may be playing outside, even if the temperature drops... I will be back at some of my semi-regular gigs, which this month will include the Currambine Bar & Bistro, Fremantle Sailing Club, The Henley Brook, Riverton Bar & Grill, The Boat, Ugly Duckling Wines and even Portofinos! Scroll down for my full list of gigs for June.
The Wesleys will also be enjoying some more gigs at Lakers Tavern, with our next appearance happening on Sunday 28th June! It will be our first gig back there since Easter Sunday earlier this year. There shall be more Wes Sunday sessions at Lakers throughout the rest of 2026! Stay safe over the winter everyone, and keep warm. If you're chasing some live music, here's where you can find me this month (this blog will get updated as gigs change). You can also check my FB page and Giglist for where I'm at.
Take care everybody!
