Off the Ground

Seeing is this is my first blog on my new website, I thought I might introduce myself a little, blog style.

I've been playing guitar and singing for a little over two decades now. I used to busk in shopping centres in the town (now city) of Albany. A couple of years after joining local band Murphy's Lore in 1994, I moved to Perth and have been here ever since. I play in a solo capacity and can be regularly spotted at Rosie O'Grady's in Fremantle on a Thursday evening. I have also been seen at The Boat in Mindarie, The Victoria Park Hotel, Beau Rivage Restaurant at Gloucester Park and The Wanneroo Tavern, to name a few. The Wesley Goodlet Jamboree Scouts are an acoustic power trio of mighty proportions with which I sing and play guitar! Sporting Kieran Murphy on drums and Shaun Street on bass we held an on-and-off Sunday residency at The Carine Glades Tavern until we landed our regular session at Lakers Tavern in Thornlie. We play there every Sunday and also every other Friday night at Rosie O'Grady's in Northbridge, with a slightly augmented line-up.

My wife Rhona and I formed a duo this year called Silver & Gold. We have sporadically played together several times over the last decade or so, but we landed our first public gigs at the Northshore Tavern and the Osborne Park Hotel in March. We've also been playing at school family functions and community events. We're hoping for more gigs as the year wears on! One way or the other, I'm kept pretty busy gig-wise! I'm also available for private functions and weddings. Take a card on your way out!

Some Kind of Time Off

It has been 53 days since I accidentally cut two of my fingers with a very sharp kitchen knife. I have been unable to play guitar with all of my fingers since then. The only gig I've performed at this
