10Queen

Queen were the biggest band in the world at one point. Their set at Live Aid brought them back from the brink after a run of disappointing albums and a popularity shift. They entered a golden period as a live act, selling out Wembley Stadium and setting attendance records throughout Europe.  It is these images of the Magic Tour that stick with me when I listen to their music; the mustachioed Freddie in his yellow jacket and white pants, John in those ludicrously small yellow shorts, Brian's white sailor-theme suit, Roger's hideous black and white striped skivvy thing and the crowd in the palm of their hands.

10Powderfinger

Calling it a day, while still at the top of their game, Powderfinger have left with us an enviable back catalogue of Aussie rock classics.  They were a band with a consistent and high quality output and I was lucky enough to see them live, including their final Sunsets tour that they have just completed.   Let's take a look through their best moments...

10PinkFloyd

I remember listening to The Wall for the first time.  I was 14 and in Bali with my family.  Because cassettes were so cheap over there, I was taking the opportunity to explore some music from the past.  I bought Bowie, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, UB40 and thought I'd take the plunge and have a listen to this Pink Floyd band that so many people liked.  I was only really familiar with the songs Wish You Were Here and Another Brick In The Wall, pt. 2 so I was keen to roll up my listening sleeves.  I'd even gone so far as a young teenager to say that I didn't like them, covering up the fact that I hadn't heard much of their music.

10Oasis

They've had their ups and downs, but the rowdy lads from Manchester have given us some great music...even if some of it was "borrowed". Although the Britpop years may have been their most successful, they did churn out some good tracks until Noel's departure, and death knell of the band, in 2009.
