New Year Smell
Well, another year has come and gone, and it's time to get busy with the new one...2011. This should be a very good year for the Bolgies! For starters, Alyssa starts year one at primary school and Lachlan will be attending kindergarten two days a week, as well as his early intervention therapy at the Autism Association. Rhona is without a contracted position with the Ed. Dept. this year, so she will be enjoying a year off, relief work pending. A good year for her to be able to focus a lot of her energy on the kids, wethinks... How exciting!
The Clock Winds Down
It's amazing how hectic things get towards the end of the year. Christmas parties, school functions, catch-ups, and for me, corporate functions...it's a big mess! Add into the mix this year, my brother's weddin in Yallingup and this December has been one for the books. What is really awesome now is that things have started to slowly wind up. Rhona has finished work and the kids have finished school and therapy, so our days are quite leisurely (and housebound) at the moment. The fact that Lyss is still fighting a chest infection also helps with our family's hermit-like shut-in attitude. We've been doing bugger all! The hardest work has been deciding on what meals to have or what movie to watch.
By Request: 10Fleetwood
There's not many bands to have suffered the amount of lineup changes as Fleetwood Mac. They morphed from an all-British blues band in the late 1960's to a British-American pop group in the mid 1970's, with Bob Welch's leaving the band opening the door for Lindsay Buckingham and Stevie Nicks, and with them mainstream success. Founding member Peter Green's departure from Fleetwood Mac in 1970 echoed Syd Barrett's exit from Pink Floyd, with Green's LSD abuse a possible factor in his schizophrenia. Band namesake's Mick Fleetwood and John McVie are the only members to have played on every album.
10Zevon
Say the name Warren Zevon, and for most people, the next thing you think of is the song Werewolves Of London. As great as that song is, it's a real shame that is all he is remembered for, generally. I was guilty of the same thing until a coupla years ago when a bouncer at Rosie's named Des gave me a copy of A Quiet Normal Life. Since then, I've been slowly delving into his back catalogue and I've read his ex-wife's biography about him. I'm something of a major fan now, but I regret not appreciating him during his lifetime...
